BCS Burmese Rescue and Welfare

The BCS runs a rescue service for abandoned or lost Burmese cats across the UK and has a number of safe houses where they can be cared for until their owner can be found or they can be placed in a new loving home. The BCS is committed to providing advice, support and help to anyone who requires information or practical assistance in the care of Burmese.

The Burmese cat Club are the larger of the two Clubs and they have a far greater network of safe houses if the need for rehoming is urgent. They are based in regions of the UK and their details can be found at  http://www.burmesecatclub.com

If you have burmese that need to be rehomed please contact Penny Akehurst 01964 527609 after 7pm please.

If you are interested in any of the cases which appear on this page or are interested in homing a rescue Burmese in the future please contact Ally Williams. It is preferable for me to be contacted by email as I am on the internet 45 plus hours a week and its easier to keep a track of your details if I have them in an email.  I can also be contacted by telephone; weekdays 8:00am - 4:30pm  0151 794 4447 (voicemail available if I am out of the office) or weekends & evenings (to 8:00pm please) 0151 287 4507. In an effort to keep costs down (and myself in employment!) I cannot return calls when messages are left on my voicemail at work so if at all possible please email me - I access my email at work and at home.

In your email please include information on:

  • where you live,
  • whether you have experience of keeping Burmese or other cats,
  • your household - human or otherwise,
  • whether you would prefer house cats or if you live in a safe environment where a Burmese could go out with minimum risk (whatever that is),
  • whether you work (full time/part time etc)
  • if anyone is at home during the day

and anything else which might help me match cats with you (think of it as a dating agency).

If you have registered with me but see a cat on the pages that you think will be suited to your home please call me again as I may not have had time to look at my current list of possible homes.

Donations to the Burmese Cat Society Welfare fund are used exclusively for this work and your support is greatly appreciated. If you would like to make a donation then a cheque made payable to the Burmese Cat Society should be sent to me at:

Burmese available for Rehome: 22nd July 2008

New Milton, Hampshire

Pair of male neuters need a new home. They are affectionate and healthy one red - Paddy and one brown - Max, 4 years old in September. They have moved from a hotel, where they lived indoors, to a flat where they are very restricted.  They must go to an indoor home with lots of space or somewhere quiet where they can be allowed out, preferably in the Bournemouth/Poole area so she can keep in touch. If you are interested please contact Yvonne Jones  on 01425 617714

Cullompton, Devon

Zak, three year old blue male neuter burmese needs a new home with no cats as he is terrorising his housemates; two ragdolls. He is a very people-orientated boy and likes nothing better than to be IN bed or on a
lap. He has been an indoor cat but if there was a home where he could go out under supervision, I am sure he would enjoy that. He is used to dogs as he lives with four and he often curls up with one or more of them.  If you can help please call Tricia Bristow on 01392 882341.

Hull, East Yorkshire

Pair of lilac Burmese neuter females are with the Hull Animal Welfare Trust. Tel; 01430 423986. They were sold as kittens but due to unforeseen circumstances the owner has to re-home them but unfortunately he did not contact either of the Clubs who would have helped home them. They are aged three and need to go together. They are indoor cats only which hopefully the Welfare Trust will respect.
